Inspired by a true story, ‘Calendar Girls’ is the story of the women from Napely, a village in Yorkshire Co., England.  Life is fairly uneventful for the "WI" (Women’s Institute) until the husband of one of their members dies of leukemia.  The women want to do something to help support their friend and honor her husband.  They come up the idea to raise money to buy a new sofa for the hospital by doing their yearly calendar with a bit of a twist!

This is a fun, heartwarming, enjoyable movie to watch.  Running time is "approximately 108 minutes" so if your PW group is going to watch the movie together and then discuss it you will need at least a 2 hour block of time together.

Some options for using this movie with your group:

bullet

Have a "Girls Night Out" - pop the popcorn, show the movie, & enjoy

bullet

Invite your PW group to view the movie on their own & then come together to discuss it

bullet

Watch the movie together & discuss what, if anything, it has to say to Presbyterian Women

bullet

Use it to begin an all-day or weekend retreat for women

bullet

If your Coordinating Team has a ‘planning/dreaming’ day each year to establish what you are going to do during the year, consider beginning with this movie

BEFORE USING ANY VIDEO WITH A GROUP, ALWAYS WATCH THE MOVIE FIRST TO BE SURE THAT IT IS SOMETHING YOU WANT YOUR GROUP TO SEE & THAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SHOWING
