I am Mary Jane Boettcher.  With help from the PW websites and talking to many active PW's, I am your MISSION person for Lake Michigan PW and have just taken on the responsibility of MISSIONS for the Synod of the Covenant. I am thrilled and honored to do this and follow our dear Virginia Emrick.  She is a remarkable lady.

Last November I actually went to CHURCH WORLD SERVICE in New Windsor, Maryland and worked both in the warehouse and SERRV, or what is now being called "a greater gift".  I rode there and back with many other people of different denominations.  I signed up through Pam Folkers who is the representative in the Lansing, Michigan office.  This was a wonderful experience which I would recommend to any hearty soul.  My roommate was in her 80's and came to help.  We learned later that  much of our work was sent to tsunami ridden areas.  Today, Monday, July 11, 2005 I am certain that CWS will send help to our battered hurricane states.  The boxes brought to the Synod of the Covenant meetings will likely be sent to children who have been caught in the middle of the Hurricane Dennis.

It is a true honor and privilege to serve God's creation and celebrate too the wonderful PW helping hands I just know I can count on in my newest role.  The work that Presbyterian Women do around the world is most honorable and should be celebrated with a humble thankfulness that we are able to do so, each in our own way.
